How to Enter a Review on Amazon

  1. Click here to bring up the user reviews of AWOL on the Appalachian Trail at Amazon.com.

  2. Separately, open “Word” (or your favorite word processor) and write the "review", just so you have edit capability & spell check.  Most people write a paragraph or two - you'll get the gist of it from what's already out there.

  3. Back on the Amazon page:  At the top of the "Customer Review" section, there will be a link with the words "Write an on-line review".  Click that link.

  4. If Amazon has login info for you, skip down to step 9.

  5. If Amazon does not have your login, it will ask you to login or create new account.  If you don't have an account, all that it will require to create one is a name and an email address.  You don't have to give a real or full name, though most people do.  Your email address will NOT be displayed on the review.

  6. Then, you'll get a page saying "Create Real Name", and this is what scares some people off.  This is a means of identifying serious reviewers who are willing to verify their name by providing a credit card number.  (The credit card WON'T be charged, it's just for authentification).

  7. OR, you can proceed without entering credit card info by clicking the link "Create Pen Name" near the bottom of the page.  You can still use your name, it just won't be authenticated.

  8. The Pen Name screen will re-prompt for your name and email address.

  9. You get the review entry form, where you paste in your comments, and (please) select 5-stars from the pull-down, and click "Preview your review". Please note that anything other than 5-stars will bring down my average.

  10. Finally, you have the option to "Edit" or "Save".
